Mission & activities
Our Mission:
To combat hunger in the Kansas City Metropolitan area.

Our Activities:
Our Giving Kitchen (OGK) is a non-profit non-denominational kitchen that prepares meals for distribution to those in need throughout Kansas City.
OGK accomplishes this by making 1,000s of meals a year in its commercial kitchen, located in Overland Park, KS. Meals consist of meat, chicken, fish and dairy, as well as vegetable and pasta sides. Soups are hearty and healthy and include classics like bean and barely soup, chicken soup and sweet potato soup. The food is packaged in microwave safe trays, making for easy use by clients.

In addition to the meals produced by OGK and its staff, OGK teams up with others across the KC metro to make additional meals. The program engages businesses seeking corporate team building events, schools and other groups looking for a fun and meaningful experience, by giving them the opportunity to step into in the OGK kitchen and be a part of the good OGK does. Volunteer opportunities are also available.
OGK is currently being hosted by the Torah Learning Center (TLC), a non-profit organization in Overland Park, KS. TLC offers innovative and unique programming and education for people of all ages and backgrounds in Kansas City. The program was launched in 2025 as an expansion of the KC Kosher Meals on Wheels program, which has been providing food for Kansas City homebound seniors and people living with disabilities in need since 2013.
Our Giving Kitchen stands out by offering a unique opportunity for the community to give back, while enjoying a great experience.
* "There are 182,950 people who are food insecure in the Kansas City metro" United Way Greater Kansas City, 2023 Community Needs Index
** "There are 538,652 children and youth age 19 years or younger living in the greater Kansas City area." (MARC) That is roughly 25% of the total population of 2.2M as per the US Census Bureau. We can then apply that 25% to United Way Greater Kansas City's value of 182,950 (see note above) to arrive at an estimated 45,000 KC minors facing food insecurity.
